The Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters Alfred Pennyworth

The Dark Knight Rises Movie Masters line has been out in stores for awhile now. Alfred has been peg warming along with Batman and Bane. I was waiting and hoping to get him at a discount. But with the movie opening soon, I thought to pick him up first just in case. And if you're wondering how Alfred is still on the pegs, each figure costs around USD34 here.





For this Movie Masters line, you can buy six figures and build the Bat-sgnal. I would love to have it but its going to be a costly effort to complete it. Hopefully I can just pick up the parts cheaply.







This is my first Alfred figure in the six inch scale. I've been eyeing the DC Direct Hush version but for one reason or another I couldn't get it when the opportunity came along. This figure will be serving both the comic and movie displays for the time being. Maybe I'll pop on a Sinestro head when he's with the DCUC figures, then he'll look more like the part. Lol.

The figure has a good liknesss to Sir Michael Caine. Its got a great headsculpt. The suited body we've seen before on various Mattel figures. This time round its coloured black and the tie has a dotted design to it. We're getting a nice collection of suits. We can now have our figures have a change of clothes once in awhile.





























Alfred comes with the main body of the Bat-signal. Its possible to custom build one with just the body alone. Think I might just do that.





Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, hinge elbows, wrist swivel, ab crunch, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, single hinge knees and ankle hinge.

Marvel Universe Blastaar & Variant

Blastaar rounds up the new figures of Marvel Universe wave 21. I also managed to find the variant. This would be only the second time I found a variant at retail.









Blastaar uses pretty much the same body we've seen before on previous large sized characters in the line. He's got a new headsculpt of course. Its a very nice sculpt. I like that he's got one eye big and one eye small. You don't often see that on figures and I think it works for him. He's got this snarling expression. His lips are protruding a little and his teeth are sculpted. His hair is well done as well. The collar is glued on. Its a little big and he looks like a sunflower in it. I would prefer some more detail on his attire as it looks a little plain. His left hand is oversized. He's got good paint. I like the mix of light and dark grey in his hair. There's also abit of dark grey wash on his skin.





























The variant is a powered up mode. You'll want to stay clear as he looks set to blast his enemies. Its basically the same figure except that his eyes are gold in colour, his attire is of a lighter shade of blue and his hands and forearms are translucent yellow. I quite like this variant. The differences make it not as dull as the standard version. You can click on the images to enlarge.






Part of the biceps are translucent. I like the how they are painted to transition back to his skin colour. It gives it a nice glow effect.







The comic shot is of Avengers #310.







Articulation. He's got a ball hinge neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, hinge elbows, swivel at his gloves, torso articulation, ball joint hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees, swivel at the top of his boots and ankle hinge. You can only rotate his head. His hair and collar make the hinge at his neck redundant.

G.I.Joe Pursuit of Cobra Snake Eyes

Several GIJoe figures from the past year have been eye catching and make me want to start collecting them again. This is one of those figures.








Snake Eyes is a well sculpted figure with lots of detail. Underneath the harness he's wearing a sweater. You can feel the lines on it. On his right and left sleeves are the Arashikage and the GIJoe symbols respectively. They are nicely painted on. Like the slim holster and knife sheath on his pants. They can be oversized sometimes. The whole look of the figure is neat and tidy. He's painted fully black. Like that some parts are glossy which help highlight certain areas (especially the goggles and visor) and make him look less dull.






























He comes with two heads. One with goggles and the other with a visor which I prefer.






























He comes with a lot of accessories. There's a rifle, a submachine gun, two pistols, two silencers (one for a pistol and one for the machine gun), two knives, two black and silver swords with sheaths, a black sword which resembles the one that came with the original v2 figure, an explosive pack and a base. The harness and knee pads are removeable. The straps on the harness are elastic and they make it easier for it to be removed.







There are several places where he can carry his weapons. What I like best is where a silencer goes. Note the loop in front of his holster. Very cool.







I managed to get him to carry everything. The black sword is tucked into his harness. The other pistol is also tucked into his harness on his back near his waist. Sorry you cannot see it as its blocked by his sword.




























Absolutely love the silencer accessory.






Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball and hinge shoulders, swivel and hinge elbows, swivel and hinge wrists. The hinges on his wrists are different than usual. They function vertically rather than laterally. Moving on, he's got a ball joint torso, ball hips, double jointed knees and swivel and hinge ankles.

The Avengers Movie 6" Hulk

It cost me a bit, but I'm really happy to have finally gotten this Hulk figure. Being a US Walmart exclusive, I'm not taking chances hoping it'll show up locally.







The card is the same style as those used for the 3.75" figures.







This is an awesome figure. Its got a great sculpt and has great articulation. He's pretty movie accurate. He looks a little dull but thats how he appeared. I always loved the classic look and would have liked if he had worn red or purple pants. There's nice detail on him. You can make out some veins on his body and his skin has texture to it. You can also have his palm read. Though he's already quite large in size, standing nearer 8", I would still like him to be a little bit bigger. He comes with a base. All of the 6" Avengers movie figures come with the same base. They can be connected to form a circular display.






Hulk stands fine on his own and doesn't need it.






This is one of the best articulated Hulks. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrist swivel and hinge, torso pivot, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot.







With the articulation hes got, maybe he can finally attend some meditation classes.
