Marvel Universe Professor X

A big thanks to a friend for helping me get this. Very surprised that this series got released. Series 1 is not even out yet. Hopefully we'll see that as well soon. Let's open this up and have a look.

Professor X uses the same body as the SDCC GIJoe Rise of Cobra Destro with a new headsculpt. There's a good likeness to how he appears in the comics. I especially like the eyebrows which are well painted. He's spotting a little people's eyebrow on his right but its not very noticeable. The suit is a little bulky but he looks great in it. It all depends on the right sort of head. You'll see what I mean further down the post.

A shot with the SDCC ROC Destro. A simple head swap and we'll get a Dixon Hill figure. Wonder if Hasbro will do any Star Trek figures.

His suit is removeable. I doubt we'll display him without it. It does give customisers another civilian look to work with.

This is the collectable comic shot, Professor Xavier and the X-men #1.

He comes with his hover chair. It comes in two parts.

The hover chair is too straight and upright for my liking. I would have liked the leg area to be propped up more. I guess it was done this way to fit into the package. Still, its a pretty good looking chair and I'm glad we got it over a regular wheelchair. There's nice detail all around. There are vents and panels. The seat is textured and made to look like leather. There's even creases on it. I think the red wash is overdone. I prefer a cleaner look for it, especially on the panels.

Here's how Professor X looks sitting in the hover chair. The seat is too high. His elbows should comfortably sit on the armrests. The left image below shows him sitting up straight. The image on the right shows him with feet touching the bottom and leaning back. A problem with this is that his gaze will be upwards. So I'll most likely display him sitting up straight.

In the chair, he's almost the same height as regular standing figures.

For articulation hes got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, wrists swivel, torso pivot, GIJoe style pin head hips, swivel hinge knees, and swivel hinge ankles.

The Avengers 3.75" Cosmic Axe Chitauri

The Avengers 3.75" series 4 is out at local retail. It's very surprising as we don't usually get anything beyond the first two series of a movie line.

I'll get straight to the main issue. This Chitauri figure is the same as the one in the Cosmic Chariot Invasion pack. Which means there's no elbow or knee articulation. Very disappointing. And there on the package he's nicely posed with elbow and knees bent. There are paint differences. This figure is dull coloured, which is more accurate to how they appeared in the movie. Also more of the armour is painted, notably on his arms and legs.

He comes with two accessories. A blaster rifle...

... and a missle launching axe. There's some nice detail on it. It's supposed to be a gimmick accessory but I think it suits the Chitauri just fine.

Articulation. It's just a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel and swivel hinge ankles.

The Amazing Spider-man 6" Movie Spider-man

Here's a look at the 6" Amazing Spider-man movie figure.

Having watched the movie, my impression of the costume has improved. And with this figure, I'm around the neutral point with it. Doubt I will ever like it. Lol. The classic costume is the best. Anyway, there's great detail on this figure. The costume is textured. It has the tiny depressions and lines sculpted on. It looks very much like the actual costume worn in the movie. Good stuff. The paint is abit of a let down. The light gold paint in his eyes is splotchy and there are several paint chips on the figure. His boots has a black wash applied. Odd that its only just his boots.

He comes with three web lines. At one end of the line is a triangular shaped handle for him to hold it with. They should come in handy when taking public transport. The web lines will need some straightening out, they're all warped. I would have liked if they were made with flexible wire.

He also comes with a light grey base. It is similar to the ones that came with the 6" Avengers movie figures.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrists swivel and hinge, torso pivot, ball like peg hinge hips, thigh swivel, double jointed knees and ankle hinge and pivot. The joints are quite stiff. Do take care when moving him, especially the elbows.

The wrist hinge on his right hand functions vertically while the hinge on his web shooting hand works laterally. For Spidey, I would prefer both wrist hinges to function laterally. I guess Hasbro made it this way so he can properly whip his foes.

Here's some pics of Spidey in action. You can click on the images to enlarge.

Some comparison shots. The Tobey Maguire Spider-man 2 figure is the one with magnets in his hands and feet. I think I might have accidentally sold my superposeable Spider-man figure...

I like that he's shorter than Captain America and Iron-Man.

The Marvel movie universe is coming along nicely. That's all for now, thanks for viewing!

The Avengers 3.75" Chitauri Cosmic Chariot Invasion

I have an army... of one. This thing cost around US$28 here so yeah it'll have to be just one for now. Sorry Loki.

I'll start with the figure first. Is it a Chitauri? Or is it actually General Grievous? Thats the impression I got when I saw this figure. The helmet looks off. If I remember correctly, most of the Chitauri in the movie wore more rounded helmets. And I would have liked if the eyes and mouth were exposed. Looking at the back of the figure, there's some sculpted detail on his skin. I think its supposed to be part of his armour which was unpainted. Speaking of which, the armour has some nice sculpted detail. The "skirt" portion is flexible and it is a separate piece glued to the figure. The paint application is poor, especially the gold areas. The paint does not fully cover what its supposed to and it overflows onto his skin in some areas. And I think the figure could use a black wash. He's too clean. Overall the figure looks okay, but the helmet really needs to be changed.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, ball hinge hips, thigh swivel and swivel hinge ankles. There's no elbow or knee articulation, which is rather disappointing

He comes with a Cosmic Chariot. It comes in two parts. The smaller part is a seat which supports the figure. I like that the chariot can be made flat for storage. There's also a missle. The button to fire it is located underneath the chariot.

This is a one man chariot. I seem to recall in the movie that it should hold at least two Chitauri. Anyway, the chariot looks good. There's lots of detail on it. It has a brownish colour. I would have liked if it were light gold as pictured on the package.

The "shoulder protectors" and the seat have ball joints. The levers and foot stands can be moved up and down.

The figure can stand decently on the chariot. There are pegs where the figure can be secured.

"This is going to be fun."

Some comparison shots. The Chitauri is slightly taller than Thor. I think that thats about right.
